My brothers and Sisters, I hope that this message would be conveyed to you directly, which is that I am proud of this award and your being with us today. Moreover, I also hope that those who have been honored should be proud, as the late Sheikh Zayed-May Allah the Almighty rest his soul in peace- made great humanitarian efforts. On such occasions, His Highness the President of UAE, vice president of UAE, Mohammed Bin Rashid and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince are keen on making them good and fruitful and giving credit where credit is due as well. This is, in fact, what we have been taught by the late Sheikh Zayed and we will follow suit-God Willing. |

“What you can see today is just the tip of the iceberg”. By these brief words, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan ended his speech on the occasion of Honoring Celebration of Sheikh Zayed Book Award Winners- Second Session almost one year ago. These words had a deep impact on ourselves, as they are adopted as an approach for our work and development strategy towards promotion of the award in its subsequent sessions. This award enhanced its communication with the most prominent intellectuals, men of literature and education worldwide. In addition, it constituted one of the key components of cultural movement witnessed by the UAE. Therefore, we are proud today of the considerable demand for the award in its second session, which expresses its credibility and confidence of innovators in its approach. That is because participations in this award were received from (30) countries, totaling (732) participations in its various branches. Honorable Guests, Launch of Sheikh Zayed Book Award on the part of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE-May Allah, the Almighty Protect him- in October of 2006 highlighted the great appreciation of the entire world for the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan firmly believed in the key role that should be played by education and culture in the community development and progress. Such education and culture was engraved in both his mind and heart, where he embodied them in his life in terms of commitment and giving. Today, while we are honoring Sheikh Zayed Book Award Winners- Second Session (2007-2008), we recall the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan whose vision has inspired us to make the award serve as a cultural and insightful message and an established, balanced and an entity that is open to every creative and authentic achievement irrespective of its loyalty. The nominations provided over two sessions of the award represented a real added value for the Arab cultural arena and the general knowledge of humanity. Moreover, the award has become a strong mainstay and key motive for creative minds to make more efforts serving the human cultural experience, prompted by faith in its great importance and credibility as well as considerable weight on all levels. Finally, we cannot but express our profound gratitude to our wise leadership, headed by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE-May Allah, the Almighty Protect him- for his continued support and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of Armed Forces, who saves no efforts in promoting and supporting any innovative cultural initiative. We hope that they trust us and that we don’t let them down. In addition, we also congratulate the award winners. We also trust that they will continue their excellent and bright performance. We also extend our heartfelt thanks, profound appreciation and sincere wishes to all those participated in the award, and enriched it with their innovation and trust. Thanks to you all.
