The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) is a government institution in charge of looking after, conserving and promoting the heritage and culture of Abu Dhabi. It was established by law no. 28 of 2005, issued on the 14th of October 2005. It incorporates the Cultural Foundation and the Department of Antiquities & Tourism in Al Ain. The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage is administered by a board of directors Chaired by H. E. Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan. The Authority was created with the aim of supporting and unifying the activities of the entities and institutions concerned with culture and heritage in Abu Dhabi. The creation of the Authority was the direct result of the implementation of the Abu Dhabi Cultural Heritage Management Strategy, prepared by a UNESCO-led team of experts. The strategy emerged from the rising concern for the preservation of Abu Dhabi's culture and sustainability and development of Abu Dhabi's culture and heritage and emphasized vital goals across several disciplines such as education, media, the promotion of literature and arts, the encouragement of artistic creativity, safeguarding culture assets, the development of museums, the promotion of archaeological research, historic urban planning , the management of cultural landscapes, conservation of the intangible heritage, as well as the development of cultural tourism.
