Sheikh Zayed’s Book Award has been established to promote, inspire and acknowledge outstanding creativity through the use of the written word.

Calligraphy—one of the Arabian world’s highest art forms—lies at the heart of the identity. Creative _expression, artistic writing, and heritage are the values that lie behind the calligraphy used in the logo, while the English text speaks of classic, well written, well constructed language. Subtle details like the two books separating the name from the year, and the ornate patterning that borders the coin finish the logo off, creating an elegant, sophisticated mark worthy of the award it stands for.

This is an icon that has been designed to stand the test of time, while remaining youthful and appealing. It embodies the heritage of Arabic writing, the prestige of gold and the qualities and values of the ruler whom the award is named after.

The Award recognises one of the purest forms of artistic expression and as such, gold was the obvious choice in colour for expressing this prestigious award.

The coin extends the idea for the identity and allows the overall identity to incorporate the essence of his Highness Sheikh Zayed in a manner that is befitting of the role and influence he has had on the world. Although the logo shows only the front face of the coin, the actual award will have a reverse side featuring the image of Sheikh Zayed.
