Delighted with the occasion, Dr. Wasini Al Araj-
an Algerian novelist- overlooked the personal perspective of his
medal and considered it an honoring of the Maghreb Literature and of
all Arab authors. Touching on the issue that the Arab Nation needs
to overcome its cultural crisis as posed by H.H Sheikh Mohamed Bin
Zayed, Dr. Al Araj called upon all Arab intellectuals and authors to
shoulder the responsibility of elevating the Arab cultural life and
to enlighten the Arab mind. "Enough with backwardness," Al Araj
commented, "There shall be no room for those who lag behind the
convoy of civilization and progress.
"For this end, we have to get the first correct start, namely, the
'Book', which we celebrate today; and which we are honored to win
one of the book's awards. Moreover, the Book Award itself is honored
to bear the name of the Late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, May
God Have Mercy upon Him.", concluded Dr. Al Araj. |
